Before founding the Gothic Chess Federation, Ed Trice had been the Chief Executive Officer of two software consulting
companies for 13 years combined. Trained as an electrical and computer engineer, he wrote a chess
software program, The Sniper, while he was still 19 years old. The Sniper eclipsed the covetted master barrier of 2200 elo points
in 1988 running on a 16 MHz Macintosh SE computer with only 512 Kilobytes of RAM. Ed's successful Blackjack Deluxe software
was proclaimed to be one of the "50 All-Time Best Programs" in the September 1996 issue of MacUser Magazine. Teaming up with
Gil Dodgen in 1997, they produced World Championship Checkers, the most powerful checkers software that was commercially
available for the next six years. In 2002, Ed was awarded U.S. Patent #6,481,716 for the invention of Gothic Chess. In 2003,
again teaming up with Gil Dodgen, they produced Gothic Vortex, the strongest Gothic Chess program available. Ed has published
technical papers for the International Computer Games Association, appeared in the book "Advances in Computer Games, 10th Edition",
writes a monthly Gothic Chess column for Chessville, writes checkers articles for The Draughts Razoo in England, annotates checkers
games for the American Checker Federation, and has maintained an undefeated record of over 140 Gothic Chess games played on ,
allowing only three games to end as draws.
