Gothic Vortex is a very fast, highly intelligent program that plays the game of Gothic Chess. It runs on the PC Platform
under the Windows operating system. In time, the Macintosh OS X platform will be supported as well. There are currently
four (4) "flavors" of Gothic Vortex. These are:
Gothic Vortex, Free Download Edition
Gothic Vortex, Registered Download Edition
Gothic Vortex, "Gold" Edition
Gothic Vortex, "Nuclear" Edition
Each of these items are explained in great detail below.

The image shown on the left is a 50% reduced view of the actual software program. You can click on the image to get
an image that is "actual size", or you can click here and download a program that will install
it onto your PC.
This free version of the software will run on your computer for 30 days. After that time, you may register it
for a low $20 fee and continue using it.
The free version of Gothic Vortex is equally as intelligent as the registered version of the software. Those who register the software
are entitled to free upgrades as performance issues are enahnced, the opening book is expanded, and other small modifications are made to the
program.

The registered version of Gothic Vortex will run on one computer, the computer for which the software is registered,
for an indefinite period of time.
The biggest difference between the registered version and the free version is the Opening Book. Those who register
the program will be entitled to periodic updates to this "book" which contains very strong lines of attack based on the
analysis of thousands of games of Gothic Chess. For example, the original opening book contained built in moves
for approximately 2200 positions. The registered version currently has more than 14000 moves in its opening book.

The Gold edition of Gothic Vortex features a very attractive board (click on the image on the left to see its actual size), as well as some additional features.
PGN notation support (import/export, annotation for any position)
Complete 4-Piece Tablebases allow the program to play perfectly in the endgame (for example, Queen + King vs. Arcbishop + King, Bishop + Knight + King vs. King, etc.)
A native 64-bit search engine, twice as fast as the Registered Edition when run on 64-bit computer hardware, will be
made available as a free upgrade to those that order in advance
The Gold edition will be made available in March 2005 for $75. Those who order now are be able to
